Prinzträger - Bochum
Modernes Leben
Larissa Prinz associates primarily the regional-express train with Bochum. To be more specific: with Hamme, the district in which she, according to their website, works on new room concepts, brand environments and adventure areas under the alias Prinzträger, together with the Bochum-born Marie Träger. Their designs slowly spread like a red thread through the whole Ruhr area and beyond. Be it the interior design of the Bang Bang Burgers and Beer in Gelsenkirchen, the event design for Sommer am U in Dortmund as well as the pop-up gallery Hermann for Vonovia in Essen or the office of the software specialists 9elements in Bochum. Now, the team works on concepts for urban interventions and pop-up spaces. When they are not busy seizing the urban space or offices with their interiors and ideas, they enjoy their idle time at one of their favourite locations in Bochum: a backyard behind their offices. Beside the endorsed locations, they especially like how the city is situated - between Dortmund and Essen and right in the centre of the Ruhr area - their friends and family and the small but exclusive cultural scene between high- and off-culture.

Badalona Bar
The small tapas bar is a place to kick back after work during the week with a well-earned cerveza. On the weekend, the evening starts here for the predominantly post-graduate crowd before they head off in the direction of Goldkante, Pinte or Freibeuter. The large open grill and the chic bar, where Efes is one of the beers on tap, take up most of the space and convey a Catalan authenticity to the place. The menu is typical, but absolutely solid. Besides the obligatory tapas, the burgers especially can be recommended. A bottle of Cava can be had for as little as 15 Euros, but it also pays to ask for a good gin. In any case, the idea of implementing authentic concepts from other countries is panning out, as the owner has already demonstrated with his first place, the Belgian chips shop, "Max Frituur," at the other end of the triangle.

Bold
The fashion-conscious crowd no longer picks up their things in a desolate department store or in a boutique. They visit a concept store! Bochum now has one of its own called Bold on Brüderstrasse. The assortment consists of well-known and less well-known fashion labels and a few selected shoes - fair trade of course. Other trappings: Perfumes, scented candles, backpacks, light bulbs, illustrated books. There are also sneakers, which the friendly owner draped over the workbench in the shop window for a dialogue with the coffee table mags. Bold. Adds a little neighbourhood feeling to the edge of the Bermuda triangle - something that’s been missing in the area so far.

Situation Kunst
The Situation Kunst is a museum not far from the Galerie m, which has taken up residence on the Weitmar castle grounds in pavilion-like, puristic buildings housing a permanent collection of works of contemporary art. Meanwhile, an additional building has been added to the exhibition space to provide room for rotating collections. Admission to the permanent exhibitions is always free of charge, and through cooperation with the Art History Institute of the Ruhr University Bochum, Situation Kunst is also able to offer a wide range of events - in addition to its normal museum operations.
Following the cultural activities in the cube and a stroll through the castle park with the centuries-old trees - also well worth a visit - you can enjoy a cup of home-grown coffee in the newly opened "Baristoteles."

Urban Urtyp
"Always on Sundays, always live, always 10 Euros." This is the advertising concept behind the monthly live concerts organised by the creative collective Urban Urtyp in the Christ Church. The genres vary from jazz to hip hop to indie, classical music and electro, but all of the musicians perform on a 100 square metre plastic cube installed in the church especially for that purpose each time, a successful blend of innovative art and great concert.
